LIONEL ATWILL (1885 – 1946) signed 3,5″ x 5,5″ sepia portrait in black fountain pen ink : “Yours Sincerely / Lionel Atwill / “09.”.
British actor who moved to the USA in 1915.
He has appeared in MANY 1930s / 1940s horror movies. Just to name a few : Doctor X (1932), The Vampire Bat (1932), The Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933), Son of Frankenstein (1939) etc.
This signed post card shows Atwill in costume as Richard Lascelles in the British stage production of The Flag Lieutenant in 1909.
This must be one of the oldest surviving signed Atwill portraits in existence .
