Lugosi , Bela : signed c. 3½” x 5″ card – DRACULA etc. (1581)


BELA  LUGOSI  (1882 – 1956)  signed c. 3½” x 5″ verso of a Pullman Ocean Liner menu in dark blue fountain pen ink : “To Sidney / in remembrance / Bela Lugosi”.

The menu has been attached to a vintage autograph book page from the 1930s, which was originally owned by a Daphne Pitcher (although the signature is dedicated ‘To Sidney’).

Bela Lugosi was a Hungarian-born actor, who emigrated to the USA in 1920. He rose to fame in the legendary 1927 Broadway stage adaptation of Bram Stoker’s DRACULA. He also appeared as the immortal Count in Tod Browning’s film version Dracula (1931). Some of his later films were : White Zombie (1932),  The Black Cat (1934), The Raven (1935), etc.

Very good condition (The menu has slight creasing and wear)
