Erich von Stroheim was a famous writer/director/actor of/in many films from 1912 until 1955 : Foolish Wives (1922), Greed (1924), The Wedding March (1928), Queen Kelly (1928) etc. . Over the years he appeared in several fantasy/horror-related films : The great Gabbo (1929), The Crime of Dr. Crespi (1935), The Lady and the Monster (1944), The Mask of Diijon (1946), Alraune (1952).
He is probably best known for his appearances in La Grande illusion (1937) and Sunset Boulevard (1950).
